George Bruce
Paint what you love! I strongly believe in that statement and do paint what I
love; landscapes, trees, and rural scenes of mostly the Midwest. Being born and
raised on a farm in central Illinois, I have always loved nature and the
countryside. I enjoy creating paintings that reflect the essence of nature,
giving each painting an expression of mood and color that interprets my artistic
feelings. I paint in watercolor and most recently in oil pastels. I especially
enjoy the medium of oil pastel and
respect the exciting results one can achieve with this simple stick of color.
I have completed many commission works in watercolor and show my work in both
mediums in coffee houses, galleries, shops and art leagues in Illinois and
Wisconsin.
I recently retired from a design and marketing firm in Chicago to pursue my love
of painting. I'm married to an artist who I met in college, have three grown
children and 7 grandchildren. I'm a member of the Naperville Art League, DuPage
Art League, The Yellow House Artists and the Oil Pastel Society. My gallery representation is at The Bohlin
Gallery, Mineral Point, Wisconsin; Center for Visual Arts, Wausau, Wisconsin;
Abby Brown in Chicago.
